Tortosa is the capital of the Baix Ebre region, located in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia (Spain). It is also an episcopal seat and constitutes an important agricultural, commercial and industrial centre. The city is located in the Ebro river valley and is rich in historical monuments. With a population of 33.510 inhabitants in 2018, of which 5.844 were foreigners. The municipality has maintained a high index of autochthonous population, and the immigrated population is, mainly, of near regions like Aragon and the Valencian Community.
